Abstract
The purpose of this study is to empirically analyze the effect of the characteristics of the early intervention services for the children with ADHD and of primary caregivers on the improvement of the behaviorss of the children with ADHD and suggest the measures to effectively manage the social service for the children with ADHD and their families. In this study, the early intervention services for the children with ADHD were examined in 4 dimensions-institution type, service type, provider`s work ethics and service period; and the characteristics of primary caregivers were examined in 3 dimensions-parenting stress, resilience and parenting efficacy. The subjects of this study were the primary caregivers of the children using the services from the early intervention service providers in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Busan and Gyeongnam, and the sample were extracted by using a stratified sampling method by region and institution type. A self-administered questionnaire survey by post was conducted. A total of 147 responses were processed by using a multiple regression. In Model 1, only the effects of the early intervention services for the children with ADHD were organized, and in Model 2, the effects of the early intervention services for the children with ADHD in conjunction with characteristics of primary caregivers were organized. The results are as follows. In Model 1, art therapy and speech therapy in service type had a positive effect on the improvement of the behaviors of the children with ADHD compared to other therapies and had a negative effect on the number of behavior. In Model 2, art therapy and speech therapy in service type had a negative effect on service period and resilience. Based upon the results as above, this study has suggested the measures to effectively manage the social service.
